What's NewItems of Interest to Our Community
This Saturday I will be the Grand Marshall at the 19th Annual Greater Manassas St. Patrick’s Day Parade. On Monday night I was honored at one of the parade events, it was the annual Grand Marshal Toast held at Taps-N-Apps on Main Street in Manassas. It was a wonderful night and I wanted to share a few photos from the night. I hope you join me on Saturday the 10th at 11:00am. For more information please click on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade website http://www.stpatparade.net/index.php.
The Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue in conjunction with Prince William County Home Depot stores are soliciting community assistance during our Adopt-A-Hydrant program during the months of December through March. This program will enable residents and/or businesses to adopt a fire hydrant close to their home or business and maintain the area around the hydrant keeping it free of snow during the winter and free of weeds and shrubbery in the summer.
Upon registering, residents will receive an “Adoption Certificate”. This certificate can be redeemed at any of the PWC Home Depot Service Desks for a FREE Hydrant SNOW STICK to mark their adopted fire hydrant. Once they have received the snow stick, they place it near the adopted hydrant and wait for the snow to fall. To register, click on the application at the bottom of the page. Send the completed application to DFRPhotos@pwcgov.org. The application form is at the end of the newsletter or you can click here and it will take you to the on-line version.
If you have adopted a fire hydrant, please take a picture and send it to my office with your name and address. When we get the all clear that winter is over, I will draw one lucky person for the Potomac District 2017-2018 Reliant Hydrant Award.
With the success of last year’s Spring Photo Contest, I decided to make it an annual tradition. Please send the photos in either .jpg or .gif formats to my email at email@example.com. If your spring photo is selected it will be featured on the cover of my newsletter and as my Facebook Cover photo for the season.
The contest will run until Monday, March 26th. Please feel free to send a little caption with it so I can include the where and when information. All photos submitted will be featured on my Facebook page and in a photo collage in the Spring Newsletter. The winning photo will receive a prize.
I would like to thank our 2017 Spring Photo Contest winner Barbara Parker of Four Seasons. Barbara submitted this beautiful picture of a blue bird sitting on a branch. Again, please send the photos in either .jpg or .gif formats to my email. I look forward to seeing your photos and thank you for helping me to welcome in spring.
